Hello everyone, sorry it has been a minute since Ive blogged. Alot has been going on in my life...we lost our cousin to breast cancer at 45 years old on October 9 and my mother has custody of her 5 year old son..he has been a blessing to our family and fits in like he has always been around. (i will start loading pictures soon, still working on that camera). I have truly been through the ringer and whatever GOD is making me GO THROUGH AND REALIZE, for the life of me please get it Jacqueline because this storm I am so ready to get through..but I accept this lesson and will get it. What don't kill you makes you stronger, RIGHT!!!!!!

Well, I have a new date once again for my sisterlock install....December 12, 2008 @ 9am. I cant wait and by any means necessary - PLEASE LET ME END 2008 WITH MY LOCKS FOR MY NEW JOURNEY IN 2009.

I do have to say since I have cut all of my permed ends off..I do love the freedom of my TWA. I haven't worn it yet, I wear a wig in public..but when I get my locks --the wig will be no more.....

A lot of Decisions

I have been out of the loop for awhile because I had to make some big decisions. I went to a consulation in Smyrna and I thought my consultation went fairly well. The consultant put about 10 test locks in my hair with knots at the end. I DID NOT like the feel of that in my hair. I really didnt like how the consulation went. She told me she didnt believe in backcombing and that was the reason for the knots at the end of my hair and I was not feeling that at all. I still set an appt to get them installed because I figured she know what she was saying. I kept having this feeling for weeks...oh, I went in for this appt on 8/13 andI scheduled to have my locks installed on 9/18 & 9/19. Something just wasnt sitting right in my spirit. So I went to the 1st lady I met to inquire about sisterlocks, she is in a shop, she has sisterlocks and I have seen her work.. I was just trying to stay close to my area in Marietta but that is not the issue. After reading blog after blog, speaking with people about locks...this is an investment and I want to make a great investment in the person who will the creator of my locks.

i went in for my official sisterlock consultation on 9/18/08 and that was a true consultation. She explained to me about my hair, the density, texture. She explained to me the locking process and the different types of hair. She asked me questions concerning Why I want sisterlocks, and my plan for my hair. She was informative and she has sisterlocks which are beautiful. Her locks are 5 years old and she has a true love for doing natural hair. I am scheduled to have the birth of my sisterlocks on 10/22 & 10/23/08. I can not wait. This is also my new birth. My bday is 10/15 and I think I am starting 36 beautifully.

I dont have a camera yet. But I did take some pictures of my old hair..oh by the way... I had my new locktitian cut off all of my permed end about 10 inches and i have about 3 inches of new growth...I was not sad when she was cutting it...for the first time in a long time I felt free..............

The beginning....

Hello to all,

I am so excited starting my journey on having my true natural hair locked in the Sisterlock creation by Dr. Joann Cornwell. http://www.sisterlocks.com/

I have been wanting to go natural for years but was a complete CHICKEN. I wondered what my friends would say, people would think and mostly what my big head would like going natural. I wanted to sport the TWA but a part of me didnt want to let the perm go, or getting my hair weaved in the many long length styles I liked to wear. Now you see, I was an avid weave wearer and not because I didnt have hair (I always told you have alot of hair) - I just loved the low maintenance of it and the many styles I could wear. Human Hair in 14 or 16 inches, jet black and deep wave....that was my pride and joy.....silly me :(

I am new to this blogging but feel its important to track your growth and process. I know blogging my sisterlock journey would be much better than keeping a written journal.

I hope my experience encourage or help someone else take the journey to sisterlocks as well. I also love the fact I have an entire sisterlock movement to reach out to....
